The International Association for Education and Exchange (IBB), in cooperation with the Regional Youth Council Brandenburg, organises a symposium under the headline of „International youth work is the future!“, which will take place on the 2nd of November 2015 at the state parliament in Potsdam.

The symposium will deal with the current state of international youth work in Germany in general, but also with the specific needs and challenges for Brandenburg.

Talks by experts will provide an entry point to the topic. Following this, we want to put the knowledge and experience of the organisations present to use in a number of workgroups, which will allow us to develop a precise picture of the current situation from the perspective of practical work.

A further focus will be the presentation of the support programmes ewoca³ and ewoca³(+), organised by IBB. The youths, who have taken part in international encounters in the summer of 2015, will report their personal experiences. Finding out whether an expansion of the support programmes in Brandenburg (and further federal states) is sensible, what preconditions have to be met for this, and what kinds of support the organisations in the region require, will be the goal of the final panel discussion.

We are happy for Parliamentary State Secretary Caren Marks (Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizen, Women and Youth) and Minister Baaske (Ministry for Education, Youth and Sports) to participate in this event, as this not only shows readiness to further strengthen the topic in the region, but also opens up the opportunity for practical discussions of sustainable ways of funding and support.

We would be delighted to see broad participation by a diverse group of organisations, as only this can ensure a multi-faceted professional discussion. All organisations with experiences in international youth work, or which are planning their first steps in this field are cordially invited.

Registration for the event is required at http://bit.do/potsdam or via the attached Flyer.
