27th July : Painting, drawing, building!!!

27th July : Painting, drawing, building!!!

Today we started our day with an energizer, so that we could wake up and start the day. Afterwards we split into four groups into the workshops. I was part of the group which painted the wall for the painting project. It was very amusing to work together and reach a common goal.

Tonight we will enjoy an evening program which will be organized by some of us – we are already waiting with impatience!!

26th July – Decryptage in Sete

26th July – Decryptage in Sete

We woke up today full of enthusiasm, at last we will visit Sete. We prepared in a morning rush and at 10 we left with the city bus. Of course before, like always, we started the day with an energizer.

And then Decryptage!! Whats this? In the beginning I felt the process boring. Five paintings cut in four puzzle pieces and in this way we had to find our team and complete the image that would give the first clue about our task. And what were the images? Well there were an eye, an ear, a nose, a hand and a mouth. It was early for us to desymbolize it  but soon the instructions about the game did the work for us.

The five painted body parts are the five senses! We found our teams and connected our puzzle and Team Hearing, Team Touching, Team Seeing, Team Smelling and Team Tasting were ready to rock and roll the city!!!!

The city bus brought us to the center and we got down all together to discover Sete with our unique united senses. Our first stop as a whole team was at a park were a poetry festival was taking place. We found a calm corner to play our language animation that was organized by some of our fellow friends. Our theme was phrases to use at the market, that was very useful later for us!

Then we separated with our decryptage teams and started to walk the roads. Ready to discover the city and complete our second task to find our lunch items for the creative pic nic!!!!I was walking with my team and somewhere a baker was making bread and the warm fragrance reached our noses  and the amazing taste filled our mouth. We continued through the open market , fish, meat and olive smells flooded our senses…

We left the market and continued our sensual expedition. We visited a library, paper, ink, the fragrance of Art enclosed in four walls!! … and out on the streets again…

People coming and going and each one of them is and has something different, his own body odor, his own fragrance, his own aroma..not only the perfume they use but the fragrance of their body. Its another feeling, something I couldn’t imagine it like this. I was in my own world, in a dreamworld pondering , in a parallel sensual universe  and in some point I felt I need to ground myself, I hesitated to share this with the others, to be honest  I couldn’t put the experience in words anyway! I wondered how the other teams felt, how it was for them to observe the world with their own unique  sense, like super heroes with special sensual abilities! And then I felt very small in the world… I felt that all of us were part of an alive organism, a human organism who was cut and broken in pieces in order to embrace  and sense the city.

Unbelievable! I am 18 years old and for the first time today I have realized how many different things can a woman or a man perceive with only one of the five senses… and how many things we lose when we focus only in seeing and we don’t use all of the other senses equally.

Nothing else had any significance for me today, this experience was so strong. We returned in Lazaret and we did a lot of things but I couldn’t be there fully, my mind was left behind in Sete with the aromas…My mind realized what it is to live fully with all my being, with all the senses  and everything else fell insignificant and small, unable to touch me and grasp me.

Third day – Getting the work started!

Third day – Getting the work started!

One more beautiful morning started, we ate our breakfast, we played our energizer – but today was a special one. Odile, the director from DecoDanse showed us some exercises for stimulation of reflexology on the bare foot to relax and activate the feet and this helps with leg muscles.

And when we started with the workshops, we were separated into three groups. One group that will build the barefoot path for stimulation of different senses and the others who build the wooden games and the third team who created the draft for the fresque painting.

We achieved already the first working goals today in the morning…and it was time for lunch!! And then we had our usual after-lunch freetime. Some groups went to Sete, some other to the beach. When we returned from the free time, we altogether returned to another beach, were we went for swimming, played the “kubb” and volleyball.

IMG_3045IMG_3080IMG_3083IMG_3096We returned and very special dinner was waiting for us with a big “kuskus” and we listened to live occitane music. The night was completed with the game “Zagamour” which was organized by a group of participants.

Of course, the game “kissing killer” did not stop, but only during the wokshops we stop playing it for safety. Lots of people are already “killed”. In the greek team only three survived.

The Second day – Wastelands and Eco-Citoyennetè

The Second day – Wastelands and Eco-Citoyennetè

Today we started with the Rainforest on the beach..We visualised that we were in the Amazon and then we played with our bodies, creating sounds of rain and then we already started to work with our theme through the language animation. The name was “wasteland” and as we were cleaning the beach we kept a few items and we circled it around saying what it is in our own language. Very useful since we will work a lot about trash.

IMG_2818Later on the workshops were presented, as well the materials and tools we will use..The fresque one feels a bit tricky…lets us see..! We were divided in groups and followed the different workshop responsible teamer.

After our free time we were introduced to our next national team challenge

The topic is “what is going on with the waste in our countries?”

So the German team made a great presentation about the different ways they handle with the trash, the recycling processes, the different bins and collection points. It was inspirational to see that is possible to work better with what we leave behind.

The Greek team made a presentation on the reality of waste in Greece and Samothraki..and how difficult they handle with the waste issues. Volunteers are giving their best to clean the mess a lot of people create!

After the presentations and our wonderful dinner it was time for a pétanque tournament. We made teams of two and we played knocking out teams and moving forward to the finals.

Jeremy and Adrienne were the first reaching the final match as French Pros and the Marina and Mary as the upcoming Greek Rookies. You can guess who was the winner of Course!!The French Pros!

First day of the camp – bienvenue a SÈTE

First day of the camp – bienvenue a SÈTE

Today was the first day here in Sète, a wonderful city in South France. Our day started as always with breakfast and an energiser…what was it? hmm ahah yeah whiskey shaker and then of course language animation, our first shaking hands. Afterwards we were officially welcomed by Odile from Decodanse and the Director of Lazaret. Before the lunch our friends from Germany who had visited the Lazaret again guided us around. And then  the amazing food was really tasty and colourful!!!

In the afternoon, we organized a nice game and were walking with closed eyes with the help of the teamer through the park.

In the evening, we went to the sea and had a nice time. It was an amazing day and we had a lot of fun.  – Panagiotis, 17 years, Greece.
