Tuesday: “Cultural Evening” 07.07.2015

Tuesday: “Cultural Evening” 07.07.2015

We will all agree that Tuesday was the most funny and awesome day for us as campers. Since it was our cultural evening we all decided to plan for a great day.

After breakfast some of us started work. The others were preparing for the cultural evening. We all prepared songs, dances and cultural foods.

At 6.00 pm we started our cultural evening. Our MC was Lisa and Harry, they made our day. First the German team presented their song which was really funny, we all sang along, after the Germans the Estonians were up, they sang beautifully. Not long after the Estonians the Romanians group were ready. They also sang beautifully and after singing we all played a Romanian game which was so much fun.

The best part of the day was the foods. Each team had the opportunity to present their national foods. It was just awesome trying different foods :)

After eating we had a great dance with all the campers, the day was just a great day.

Sunday/Monday: Trip to “Holland” – Netherlands (05.07.2015/06.07.2015)

Sunday/Monday: Trip to “Holland” – Netherlands (05.07.2015/06.07.2015)

The cherry on the cake was the idea of the trip to Holland…we started our trip Sunday morning after breakfast with four transit buses. We were excited because some of us never have been in other countries before we came here or at a seaside. The unlucky part of the day was the weather, Sunday was cold and windy so we couldn`t swim, but that dint stop us from having fun, soon the sun came out the day became , more better.

We took our places in a camping and found our places in some big tents. The dinner was barbecue prepared by us it tasted great. The whole day was mostly relaxing and chilling around but in the evening we had the possibility visit the camp club which was nearby and for the first time we had a Romanian, Estonian, German, Holland dancing party together. Everyone had fun.

Monday morning we woke up for a sunny day and went to the beach. Some of the people were swimming, the other sunbathing by the North Sea. Before we left we had a meal by the buses and we rode back to Oberhausen. Welcome back to your temporary home! Monday was a great day since we were free from work. We had the opportunity to relax and get prepared for the next day which was very helpful (we needed it), after taking a long trip.

Saturday: Summer fest “Work and Fun (Spaß und Arbeit)”

Saturday: Summer fest “Work and Fun (Spaß und Arbeit)”

We started the morning with the breakfast, which was followed by the warm up organized by the Romanian-Hungarian team. After the warm up we were divided in groups and got different tasks: cleaning the surrounding, ropes course, bird cage building and flower-power team. The ropes course was a big challenge for all of us, there were individual elements and the Jacobs leader, which we climbed up in pairs. We got out of our comfort zone and faced our fears. The cleaning team was cleaning the area for the summer fest. On the day before for the suggestion of Harry we made a list of songs, we would like to hear and during the cleaning time we had a really great party, dancing and singing together. It is called: Wok and Fun….Spaß und Arbeit. The Summer fest is a charity event. We were asked for this event to prepare some typical national foods from our country. The Romanian -Hungarian team prepared eggplant by the fire and prepared eggplant and zucchini spread, the Estonian group prepared fish sandwiches what we offered for the visitors. At night we had a feedback circle and as already passed one week, we evaluated the program from different points of view: food, accommodation, activities, work, free time, atmosphere, personal feeling etc. and those who wanted gave more details about their rating. The greatest moment of the day was at night after dinner, when we had a slide show of photo selection about the happenings of the week before. All in all it was an awesome day.

Friday: 4th working Day (03.07.2015)

Friday: 4th working Day (03.07.2015)

We woke up earlier than usual on Friday because it was a very hot day (39°), so the plan was to start working as early as possible, because it would be too dangerous to work in such a hot weather (the leaders idea).

After the warm-up session the participants were divided into 3 groups. The first group of 5 participants started building Flower-beds and planted flowers and plants in it, which turned out to be beautiful and fun to do. 7 participants built bird cages and the rest participants built chairs and painted the wall with some lovely colours. Work was fun because we worked as a team.

After work, lunch was served which was delicious as always. Since the weather was getting hotter and hotter the leaders came up with a brilliant idea that we should go to an outdoor swimming pool to relax for the day, which was awesome. As soon as we returned from the swimming pool we had a delicious dinner, afterwards we had free time, free time is always so much fun since we have so much games we could play. The closing scene of this day was also the fire where the participants could stay up until late night if they wanted to.

Thursday: “The Ruhr area Rally Day” (02.07.2015)

Thursday: “The Ruhr area Rally Day” (02.07.2015)

Thursday was probably the hottest day, but that didn’t stop us from helping Cristina celebrate her birthday. After the regular 9 o’clock breakfast, we surprised her with a yummy strawberry birthday cake smile emoticon . We really made her smile when we sang to her together with the group. Afterwards the campers were split into groups of five. Each group had to have at least 1 participant from each of the 3 countries. The leaders built their own group 2nd then everybody took off for the Ruhr area Rally, where the German participants showed their city to the others.

Almost everyone visited the zoo and the Centro mall, this being probably the best place thanks to the air condition.

The tour was pretty exciting for all of the participants as we found out during the daily feedback round. As a plus, Christina received another gift from us: ” A cup with a picture of Ruhr filled with GUMMYBEARS!
After dinner, some tried out the handy-crafts workshop and made pretty bracelets, others decided to laugh around and watch the full moon at the fireplace. It might have been a long day, but it was totally worth it.

As usual the groups were very hard working; the bird-group had a lot of fun building bird cages and painting them in beautiful artistic colors. After Then we had a very good lunch and mostly free time, because of the heat, but that didn’t stop the Bird-group to continue building their Bird cages but this time everybody wanted a piece of the action, this was really exciting for as we found out during the daily feedback.
After dinner we had free time, what we used to play ping pong and billiard and some card games.

Tuesday: 2nd Day of work (30.06.2015)

At 8 am the kitchen team was already woken up, breakfast was served at 9 am. so the participants got strong enough for the Warm-up game and for the work. Everybody did the same work as the day before, but it was much harder because it was very hot (36-37 degrees). Because of that the leaders decided to take the work slower and to go to the swimming pool in the afternoon. So after they had a lunch they got into three buses and they went to the outdoor swimming pool called Hesse. Everybody had a very great time and they could cool down a little bit. After swimming they came back to have dinner and after it they had the feedback round which had already become a routine. The closing scene of this day was also the fire where the participants could stay up until late night if they wanted to. They had fun around the camp fire and when day went to bed they could feel the sweet tiredness after a great day.

Monday: “The 1st day of work” (29.06.2015)

Monday: “The 1st day of work” (29.06.2015)

As the participants woke up they could already see that day would be a very sunny one. After the breakfast the campers signed the camp’s rules contract. The kitchen team started their work, the others went to work. The group was divided into three. Some people stayed at the camp place because there was also work to be done. The other two groups went to the hill, one group to the northern side the other to the southern side of it. The groups were very hardworking and they finished what they had to do in no time. They went back to the camp for lunch and to rest a little bit. In the afternoon they resumed work again and they were also very determined because it was fun to work in such a lovely team and multi-cultural atmosphere. When they came back, after having dinner they took part in the first feedback round where they could tell their opinions about the first day and imply their suggestions. After that they had leisure time when day used out all the relaxing activities offered by the camp like table tennis, pool, skateboards etc. The day was closed by a camp fire where the atmosphere just became better.

Sunday: Get-to-know-each-other-day (28.06.2015)

Sunday: Get-to-know-each-other-day (28.06.2015)

The day started with a typical German breakfast at 9 am. After that the whole group together played some Warm-up games which were supposed to make the participants know each other better, and some activities which gave the participants the opportunity to tell something about their personalities and slowly they learned each other’s names. The lunch at 1:30pm was very tasty (Italian food Bolognese… as a symbol of multi-cultural) and it made the campers strong enough to take a walk on the hill nearby, and to see where they will be working the days to come. When they came back they were informed about the Rules and Regulation and also the campers were divided into smaller groups. On each day there were three people in the kitchen team (they administrated the kitchen) and three people in the diary team (they had the task to write a review on the day and to publish it on the internet). The closing scene of the day was landscape-trip to Duisburg, which was for those who weren’t tired enough. They went to bed quite early because they had to get ready for the next day which was the first day of work.

Saturday: “The arrival” (27.06.2015)

The camp place in Oberhausen was waiting for the camp’s participants. The first people who came in were the German group. They were very excited to see what the others were going to be like. At around 2 pm. the plane of the Romanian group landed at Dortmund airport. When they arrived to the camp they had lunch. After lunch they had to rest because of the tiring road, but they wanted to do it actively. The group was divided in two. One part went to Gelsenkirchen to a swimming pool the others went to Essen on a city tour. When they came back they had dinner and they were looking forward for the arrival of the Estonian group. It happened only late in the night. They were very tired so after the dinner they went to bed.arrivalArrival of the Romanian group
